Haidt mentions that people go to “football games in sub-zero weather painting their faces and taking their shirts off” because it is one of his examples of how humans are 10% bees. Sports fans coming together in the freezing cold to support their team, is extremely bee-like because fans don’t care about how cold it is, they want to show as much spirit and support for their ‘team’ out on the field. Although they aren’t on the field playing, fans play a vital role for sports teams by cheering them on and supporting their group to defeat a common ‘enemy’.
