Haito: A Short Story
He has a longer sword than me, more reach. Looks too heavy for his own good. I try to be quick about getting close, but he caught on. He swings his sword at my hilt but I jump back in time. It amazes me how his small figure can swing that sword so fast.
"You're quick, I've fought people like you be-"
I interrupt his trash talk by swinging at his sword. I keep partying his place away, trying to make him lose his balance. He manages to block every hit, but after blocking the last one I gave out his heel slipped. Now that I got him caught off guard I can strike near the hilt. I go for it, but he's gone!
"Above you!"
I look up, and have no choice but to defend. I take a decent blow, almost losing grip on my sword. This guy is crazy, no wonder

Haito was known as the swift strike in my city, being that it only took one swift strike to win most of the local tournaments he's been in. With the exception of this one, tournaments have never really been my thing, I don't like to give my future opponents any sign of weakness or a chance to come up with a strategy for my swordplay. I know Haito has the balance of a drunk man when he gets too into his fights, so it'll be interesting to see how this one turns out. That's the difference between the way our father taught us things and the way everyone else learned. People have only heard about our skills, and select few have seen my …show more content…
"I don't know, we're fighting for that honor at the moment."
"It's not like we don't know anything about it. We're becoming the Crimson Knight, the big hero who stood up to the other three Knights."
I looked up to the sky, thinking about that. "That's true, but I think it'll be worth it. Especially since we can help people, and travel the world. You know, see amazing wonders. Greater than even the Crimson Knights power itself I'm sure."
He looked at me and then smiled.
"That's true, there has to be something bigger. Bigger, than the Crimson Knight. I've thought about it since Father started telling us the stories," He took a deep breath, "But enough of that, let's go meet up with the others shall we?"
We walked to the social area. We seen everyone talking, so we causally walked up to them.
"Tai! You killed it out there, that upwards strike really caught him off guard." Father put his arm around me.
"Thanks, I was trying to be strategic about it. He almost had me though, I can't be so clumsy."
"Don't worry about it now, you were the victor!" Lyon cheered to us.
"I'm looking foward to your fight Taylor. You're going against Tyson right?" I

He hits me to the floor, where he surrenders me. I couldn't move when he was holding me down and took my knife, but with my legs I pushed him up and threw him onto the floor. I had the knife and had a shot to kill him. But I was a coward, I was too scared to kill him. He whispered to me, "I can't kill you.…

When I heard the beep, I charged at the big burly 5th grade enemy fencer with my convulsing and jittering sword. I'm not even sure if I was using the proper footwork. Despite my little size, the 5th grader hesitated and began to stumble backwards. I hit him with the sword within seconds. I figured that if I "charge up and plow into them with the sword" the opponent would become overwhelmed and not be able to think straight, as someone runs towards them. This worked for even the biggest of…

Nearly two hours later a lone man on horseback armed with a sword passed me, heading south. I’ve known this man as Tajomaru. He is a very experienced warrior who is not very strong, but makes up for his weak muscles by being extremely agile and swift. Not many can best him in a duel.…

It's time to go inside, I bring no weapon, I mean him no harm. Regardless, I know him well. I'm 6'4 220 and he's a measly 5'6 140 or less. He is strongly against guns and if he spots me and chooses to find a weapon, I doubt anything he has would be of much use. The door is unlocked so I'm stepping inside. He should be asleep by now, it's 2am, and the lights have been off since midnight. Nothing could possibly go wrong. I planned this for weeks. His wife and kids are away in Ohio for a Skiing trip, leaving him home alone, and me with only one pair of eyes to worry about. I'm…

He came at me again, this time more aggressively. It was probably the frustration, or maybe he wanted the knockout. Either way, I was losing and I knew it. For a second, I thought of taking the fall just to give the crowd something to talk about. He tried his best to trap me, but I kept backing up and prolonging this dance of ours. “Two minutes! Do something” I thought I heard my corner shout. I dashed back one more time, that’s when I saw the slight buckle in his knees. He was tired, exhausted, spent, almost expired. His mass advantage worked against him when it came to endurance. Now is my shot, it was either hit or miss. But I wasn’t going to waste it on an offensive strike. It had to be a counter, or he would expect it. I planted myself, and like a fish to the bait he came for the trap and swung. I flung out my jab to deflect his and countered with a right straight while my eyes were closed. I felt the contact, opened my eyes, he wasn’t there.…
