Hamilton, Hedwig, The Color Purple

I picked social issue that is very ongoing in our society. Social classification is a common problem in society. Social classification was a problem in 1940s and is still problem today. People classify almost anything everyone. Three musicals that I feel show social classification are Hamilton, Hedwig, The Color purple. In Hamilton Lin Maranda, the director and face of Hamilton had a vison that was different from the normal Caribbean immigrant story. Hedwig is a musical on German male that is trying find his place in society threw his music. Color purple is a musical and a movie, it’s about 2 sisters that been through hell and back. All these musicals have the same value they made their mark on society and pushed an effort to be understood
He had to get a sex change so he could flee the distress country of Germany but the operation is botched and Hedwig is left with mean scratch. Shortly after he got far from Germany his significant other left him. This leaves the main character lost and curious of their purpose in life, threw out the rest of the musical goes through the show trying find there self. It’s a history to the musical itself that shows the social classification changed over time this story is based on a Germany female baby sitter that was a prostitute and was friends with the oldest son of the boss which had 2 gay sons and they started a musical career together. I believe the story of Hedwig shows the distress to some people and their acquisition with the world how they fit in, not knowing there classification. Hedwig has 3 songs that show the passion of lost souls “Origin of Love” “Wig in box” “Midnight radio”. “Origin of love” is a song where it states that it basically believe God split us from our other half to spend all our lives finding them. “Origin of love” is Plato, Symposium, The Myth of Aristophanes that was proclaimed in (c. 400 BC) is that “ A long time ago, there were three kinds of human beings: male, descended from the sun; female, descended from the earth; and androgynous, with both male and female elements, descended from the moon.
