To me is all seems like an act in the beginning, but it soon comes to light that Hamlet may in fact have gone mad. Everyone believes that he has gone mad over his love interest Ophelia, and that is has nothing to do with his father. Like the saying “there’s a method to the madness”, Hamlet has his reasons for everything, he seems to be a very smart kid. Has the play progresses, Hamlet’s behavior becomes more and more outrages, but at the same time he is trying to prove that Claudius is the one who in fact killed his father. While Claudius sends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to spy on Hamlet, Hamlet tries to get them to reenact the murder of his father. Who would think to do such a thing? Only crazy person. Towards the end of the play, Claudius comes up with a plan. Once Hamlet got back to the kingdom, Everyone is going to praise him on how great his sword skills are, and try to get him to have a duel, with Laertes. Claudius is hoping that Hamlet does not inspect the swords and and allows Laertes to pick the sword that isn’t used for friendly duels, the sharper sword. He basically wanted Laertes to sneak attack Hamlet and plunge right at him. But just in case that doesn't work, they plan on using a “potion of death”, if Laertes dips the sword in the potion then stabs Hamlet, he will die. With the options that Claudius has planned he is very serious about taking Hamlet’s life. Lastly he decides if those other two options do not work, he’ll poison his own drink and offer it to Hamlet. Hamlet had a few opportunities when he could have just killed Claudius, but he didn’t for many different reasons. They both want each other dead, they botch obsess think about how they are going to kill each
