Hamlet Update: A Character Analysis

Because my post is late my Hamlet Update is going to really be the end result. Now when we were at first assigned this project I felt my insides close in on each other as I began to think of how in the world I was going to pull this off. It wasn't until our class discussion were we pondered the idea of Ophelia being the game maker in this play. It began as just talk but then this idea quickly evolved into something much greater and fairly practical. After class Roshan and I walked away together planning out our process.

We sat down together and planned out our power structure, and it broke down into actually being two separate structures. One was how the power was actually being distributed and the other was how everyone but Ophelia thought it was.
This list Shows Ophelia as the top of the tower, she is the one leading the plot. Next is Claudius who is mostly next because of his power, Polonius follows behind because he works directly for Claudius. Hamlet is next and he is primarily a pawn in this game, Ophelia uses him as her way towards the crown while actually changing his state of being to make her plan work. Gertrude is in the power structure but she really doesn't have much affect. In this version she is simply going through the motions as she grieves her husbands death.

The second list is is how the power players see the structure. This list begins with Claudius because he his king and keeping him feeling in control is the most important part of Ophelia's plan. Next comes Polonius, it is important that he continues to see his daughter as innocent. Hamlet falls next this leaves him in the perfect place to be powerful enough for Ophelia. Ophelia follows Hamlet and she appears clean and innocent to everyone involved, appearing low on the power structure allows her to easily manipulate her situations. Gertrude in this structure is also at the
