The first book Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone also known as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by …show more content…
J.K. Rowling was an action filled book with excitement Getting introduced to the wizarding world was an adventure I won’t forget. The uniqueness of this book is shown in different ways throughout the book, for example the point of view and descriptiveness. “Mr. Dursley stopped dead. Fear flooded him. He looked back at the whisperers as if he wanted to say something to them, but thought better of it.” (Rowling, 1997) This short paragraph explaining Mr. Dursley (Harry Potter’s uncle) hearing about Harry’s parents shows us what type of author J.K. Rowling is and how she writes in the 1st book. Her strength in her writing is she is very descriptive, like in an earlier part of the story where J.K. Rowling is describing Mr. Dursley. “He was a big, beefy man with hardly any neck, although he did have a very large mustache. Mrs. Dursley was thin and blonde and had nearly twice the usual amount of neck, which came in very useful as she spent so much of her time craning over garden fences, spying on the neighbors.”
The second book, Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets also by J.K.
Rowling is similar to the first in it’s nature and idea, but is different in it’s context. Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets has a more uniqueness to it, and while it doesn’t introduce characters and setting, it does a magical job of setting the scene for when the story will later take place. While both books have the same notion, Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone bring the same characters to a whole new adventure at Hogwarts. In this story, Harry and his friends find out about a Chamber which also happens to be taboo. While the children are curious, they can’t talk about it in public, but wish to know more.
The books have a lot of similarities as well. Along with the same author, these books have a lot in common.
My verdict of these two books was difficult to choose. The suspense of both stories wanted me reading more, Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone introducing the adventures to come, however Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone does a better job at getting straight into the excitement and thrill faster than the first book. It grapples readers more and expands even more on Hogwarts, the professors who work there, quidditch, and even Harry Potter himself.
