Thank you for your spectacular Hashimoto’s thyroiditis presentation. Prior to your presentation, I had never heard of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis before. As you mention, patients with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis can present with symptoms of either hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism. Both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism symptoms can be naturally vague when clinically assessed. When I was in high school, I had a friend who presented who was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Her immediate symptoms were weight gain of 15 pounds in a month, fatigue, and her hair falling out in clumps. As my friend’s clinical presentation is one I do not forget, I hope an increase in research allows for more definitive concrete etiology evidence to bring answers
