Have We Confused Power with Greatness?
7. We have, I fear, confused power with greatness. (Stewart Udall)
It is easy to become discouraged by politics in this country. The average person it appears has no voice.
We make a noise about injustice and crime, greed and corruption. But the people in positions of authority – the people chosen to represent us as a nation, have chosen instead to use their authority to gain power rather than affect change or influence.
The problem is right there in the definition of politics: intrigue or maneuvering within a political unit or group in order to gain control or power.
I cannot see anybody in the political throng of Ukraine who stands out as a person with integrity, who’s desire is to see change in a positive way. Barring the miraculous, our beloved country’s restoration won’t come from any single leader, but from the people.
We need to speak out, regardless of who is listening. We need to act, regardless of how small and insignificant we may feel. It is in the gathering of voices and hands that change occurs. We as the people need to use every opportunity to act in ways that bring about a positive change to the people in the community around us.
The power allows you to experience being stronger, smarter, freer and more comfortable and fully yourself. It allows you to take action. It is “A CAN DO” attitude even if you think you can't. It lets you decide what is good for you. It means doing what you can, when you can, rather than waiting for someone or something to change on it's own. It is a method of taking charge of your life and being responsible for yourself. It means finding the solutions to a problem, and making the best choice now.
The day will come, when this country will be led by people who’s hearts are in anguish over the suffering and broken, who’s desire is that truth and justice would not only prevail but be used for healing and restoration.

It can be used to build and to save and to learn. However, when placed in the wrong hands, power can be a scary thing. It can also be something that people will do anything to keep. Individuals will risk and sacrifice a variety of possessions in order to keep a small amount of power. A lot of times too, people are not careful with what they are willing to sacrifice.…

A voice, no matter how small can create the biggest changes. Some of the greatest uprisings in human history have begun with one person or a small group of people simply voicing the shared opinions of the general populace. If we think back to the time of our revolutionary era, we see founding fathers such as Alexander Hamilton and Samuel Adams speaking out and writing against their unjust government. While mostly everybody agreed with the opinions of these men, the stark contrast between men like them and the people was that they were vocal about it. Had it not been for this small group of our Founding Fathers, the war may perhaps have never been started because nobody was brave enough to speak out for their…

This article implies that all politicians are corrupt because they do not represent the people, and that they only represent themselves. The author goes as far to state that America’s political system is so corrupt, that an entire new political system should be created to avoid tyranny. The fact that modern day politicians are self-serving is tyrannical, and ultimately unconstitutional.…

Everywhere we step into we bring our ideas and knowledge, we have the ability to create a significant change among the people that we affiliate with. There might have been countless times where we might have been given the power to create change but have unfortunately misused that power and wasted it. Having such power can be overwhelming however there has always been the time where we gather the courage to stand up and lead, open our mouths and pour out the knowledge that we have accumulated through the years. Having the courage can sometimes be the solution to some conflicts, because we might be the only ones with the knowledge for a solution and our cowardness can lead to a decline in production. During my high school career, I was part…

Or we can take the power, quite literally, into our own hands. We can search, browse, learn, tweet, text, snap and we have the ability to know everything. Any ounce of knowledge that we can possibly want is at our fingertips. All of the power can reside with us. Which can only be good if we know how to use it. Which, as I’m sure we all have had experience with, we absolutely don’t. We all ignored Uncle Ben’s advice and didn’t care that with great power comes great responsibility. We just take it, and run full steam ahead; regardless of the outcome.…

As a Ukrainian I take pride in the struggle my other nation for liberty and self-government. In September of 2014 I had the opportunity to attend the President of Ukraine’s, Petro Poroshenko, address to a joint session of Congress. My Representative, Walter B Jones, gave me his ticket. I got to sit in the upper balcony of the chamber of the United Sates House of Representatives and realize something. I realized that I was not alone in my pride and that I should not be afraid to show it.…

The political crisis in Ukraine has been lasting for more than 2 months with a lot of serious consequences. At least 90 people died and hundreds were wounded. Although Ukranian President Viktor Yanukovych was ousted and his allies in the Government were dismissed, protests still continue tensely and have no sign to end. There are many reasons explaining for the situation, and one of the most simple reasons is the polarization in the country. It is not only the contradiction in Ukranian political system but also the division in Ukranian society.…
