The political crisis in Ukraine has been lasting for more than 2 months with a lot of serious consequences. At least 90 people died and hundreds were wounded. Although Ukranian President Viktor Yanukovych was ousted and his allies in the Government were dismissed, protests still continue tensely and have no sign to end. There are many reasons explaining for the situation, and one of the most simple reasons is the polarization in the country. It is not only the contradiction in Ukranian political system but also the division in Ukranian society.
It is obvious that there are a lot of contradictions in the current Ukranian political system, especially in field of parties. There are numerous rival factions not only between the ruling party and the oppositions but within each party as well. They always scold each other and seek the way to discredit their rivals. When a party wins an election and holds power, it only cares about its members benefits, not people. As a result, governments come and go but nothing really changes. Therefore, Ukranian people are completely disappointed with the Government that forms by any parties. Take the ruling Party of the Regions for example. Its party members did not follow the party policies. With the ambition to seize power, some top party members wheeled and dealed with the oppositions to overthrow their party leader as Ukranian President. The chaos among parties leads to the dysfunctional Government. It is understandably why Ukranian people need a real government of the people, by the people and for the people.
Futhermore, the differences between people from the west and the east of the country also cause the problem. In fact, people in the west speak Ukranian and they want Ukraine to align with the EU whereas people in the east speak Russian and they want the country to align with Russia. The Ukranian crisis started by people from the west of the country when the Government delayed to sign a trade
