Communication of Electronic Medical Records
Communication in the health care industry is important, and to the patients as well. Patients want to see and understand his or her progress when dealing with health care providers. Health care today’s patients want to remain more involved with any paperwork that has been signed or want to know what information is on his or her medical records. Patients or doctors can then rely on electronic medical records. This paper with discuss how communication is worked in the health care system and how medical records are shared.
One Benefit to Patients
Today patient’s records are moving from the use of paper to the computer with hospitals going green in 2014. Health care systems are working with high or super capacity computer systems. This will provide faster and better performance and efficiency to other health care system to get information on patients. The efficiency is just not important for the health care system, but it is also important to the patient (T. Torrey, 2012). The one benefit is the easy access patients can see his or her electronic medical records. The information the electronic medical records can provide is blood type, what conditions he or she …show more content…
have, medications prescribed, and sharing the information with other health care providers.
The Aspects of Electronic Medical Records
Electronic medical records have made easy the many tasks vital to patients care.
This will allow health care providers to research of a patient’s health background. Here are some of examples of using electronic medical records (Partners in Health, 2010): * Electronic medical records improve the quality of updating patients health record * Electronic medical records can allow clinic staff to follow up and track the patient care * Health care providers can understand the patient care and needs * Electronic medical records will improve the health care provider to assist patients of complex chronic
diseases. * Health care providers can research data of long-term conditions
Electronic medical records provide the patients with easy to understand information and all of them will be train on how to use the system. Patients some time think that it will be harder than he or she will think but after getting some type of training it will be easy to use.
Reason for Electronic Medical Records Confidentiality
Health care providers have a duty to keep his or her patients confidence that no health records can leak out to anyone. The doctor’s duties to maintain patient’s information private and confidentiality mean health care providers cannot let any information, such as health care records may not be discuss without the patient permission or consent. The intention is for the patient to feel comfortable and confident that his or her information is protected by the health care provider. Access to patient’s information has become harder. Patients sometime do not even want his or her family to know what conditions they are dealing with.
Mode of Communication
The picture of an old high school teacher name Dr. James Porter along with is weird painting is in dreams of the older generation. For those who use technology is a part of life and health care student have to rely on. Social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace has changed the way students communicate and study. E-mail and texting has altered the way the world communicates. Technology has the speed to send information and to study data of information. Students rely on the computer now instead of the old fashion way of going to the library and taking the time of his her day studying. Health information technology is steadily rising and progressing. The speed of reviewing data has grown so much the days of going to the library is slowing down, everyone is getting his or her information right from home.
Media and Social Networking
Today in the 20th century media and social networking is taking over. Patients are expanding to technology fill with social networks like Facebook or Twitter. Within these networks there are also know group of conditions patients can join and share his or her chronic condition with others who deal with the same condition. Even the hospitals and other health care providers are joining in on the technology trend of social networking (J. Herigon, 2011). Health care providers are using YouTube to film short messages on videos patients can watch. Certain chronic diseases or health conditions can better be explained through 300 or more health prevention presentations. These networks can also provide student and patients with all type of information before calling his or her health care providers.
Health Care Market
In the end these are many ways that health care providers are using in technology today. This is a faster way to communication among all health care providers to research data, understand patient’s information and what medicines are prescribed. Patients can even join in on his or her electronic medical records to get a better understanding of the conditions. Health care providers want to serve and provide patients with the best health care as possible. The access will be confidential between the health provider and the patients so it will not get into the wrong hands. Today electronic medical record can provide faster access for patients and will not take days or weeks to get.
