safety at work act 1974 – An act to protect all persons at work relating to health and safety. Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 – An act covering any transporting or supporting of a load by hand or body force. Load is anything from pushing, lifting, pulling, carrying, moving and putting down. Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 – An act that requires employers and others to report any accidents or diseases in a work place. Care standard Act 2000 – provides the administration of a variety of care institutions. Food Saefty Act 1990 and Food Hygiene Regulations 2005 – Under this act you must not provide food that is unfit for people to consume which can be dangerous to health.

Firstly we need to identify the risks and then we need to address them to make sure appropriate measures are put into place to minimise the risks. Then communicate all changes to all persons so that everyone is aware of the change and can prevent any near misses or accidents happening.

Risk assessments are a good way of letting the client know what the health and safety risks are. It lets them know what the employer and employee are responsible for. If the client knows the healthy and safety risks it can help address any dilemmas they have. If a client doesn't like one of the rules and its to do with health and safety you can show them the risk assessment and explain to them why it has been put into place and that its not just there to make life difficult or to discriminate, that it has to be there to protect people.

one way of promoting health and safety is that all procedures are understood and followed and to write down any risks or hazards you have seen to promote awareness. Also its good to lead by example.
