The team which is dispatched are a doctor and a nurse or two of each. On the scene there will already be paramedics, police and fire services. When the doctors and nurses are dispatched they will leave the hospital with limited airways, breathing and circulation equipment. On arrival at the scene they should stay together and report to the Medical Incident Officer (MIO) or the Ambulance Incident Officer if a MIO is not present. They would then be updated and sent to the Casualty Clearing Station (CCS) to stabilise patients. Whereas, at the hospital the team will have access the specialised equipment, medicine and facilities to assist a critically injured patient, they will also have other health professions and specialised doctors all working

They will only have basic equipment so they will need to assist the most critical patients first by assessing them to make sure their airways are clear, their breathing is normal and stop any heavy bleeding. They will also need to stabilize any critical patients before they can be transferred to hospital. They will need to have specialized training in a variety of emergency situations to be able to stabilize any trauma they come across in a quick, accurate and confident manner. The nurse will need to understand the triage method to make sure patients are seen according to their medical needs. If the patient is conscious and able to speak the nurse must quickly get basis personal information from them. Nurses should also be confident in moving patients without causing injury, taking blood samples, cleaning and bandaging wounds and administering medication. Being at the scene of an accident can be very chaotic so nurses need to be able to communicate efficiently and effectively, pay attention to detail, show leadership, ensure they are emotionally stable and able to be sympathetic to relatives. Sometimes critical patients in major accidents needs continuous treatment while being transported to hospital, nurses will need specialize training to do
