The Stakeholder in which I decided to research and write about is the AMA or to some it may be known as the American Medical Association. This association’s mission is to better public health and promote the art and science of medicine. The AMA was founded in 1847 by a man by the name of Nathan Smith Davis. The group has since invested in the doctor and patient relationship and has promoted scientific advancement as well as improved public health. Mr. Davis was the first editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association back in 1883 until 1888. The first code of medical ethics was adopted by the AMA delegates and they were the ones to establish the first nationwide standards for preliminary medical education…

In 2010, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law by the United States government and is the largest health care reform since Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. With this new legislation, there will be a huge transformation of the health care system we know today. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) is an organization that is independent of government and provides unbiased advice used in making informed legislative decisions about health care. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), the largest philanthropy in the United States, collaborated with the IOM to evaluate and transform the nursing profession in order to provide quality, cost-effective care for the growing population in need. It is projected that 32 million Americans will receive insurance coverage with the ACA, exponentially increasing the patient load of health care providers. The IOM recognizes nursing as the largest profession in health care and states, “By virtue of its numbers and adaptive capacity, the nursing profession has the potential to effect wide ranging changes in the health care system” (Institute of Medicine, 2010). This paper will discuss how the IOM report impacts nursing education, practice in primary care, and the role of nurses as leaders.…

A discussion regarding the health care reform or even health care in general can be somewhat controversial. The definition of health is drastically different depending on whom you speak to. Many would define health as " a person's absence of disease, others would describe good health based on the status of mind, body & social well-being" (GCU Lecture, module 2, 2012). According to The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, health is defined as "The overall condition of an organism at a given time". An individual's overall health affects the nation, this is where stakeholders come into value. According to Keele, Buckner & Bushnell a stakeholder is either an individual or an organization that either invest time and money into another health care organization that helps implements health care strategic plans. This also causes stakeholders to be affected or be affecting the nation's health. As many are unaware, "stakeholders play a key role within the health care system" (Keele, Buckner & Bushnell, 1987). The American Nurses Association (ANA) also plays an important role within the health care reform enacted by President Barrack Obama.…

After reading “How To Save The News,” by James Fallows, I have mixed feelings and reactions. I can agree with certain points made within the article, and I disagree with others. I think the general public can attest to the fact that the “survival of high-quality journalism is essential to the functioning of modern democracy.” The decline of the news industry has brought about a new issue to focus future journalism and business towards. The question brought about in this article is in what direction is the news industry headed? Since no one can predict this shift, the solution to this problem is difficult to devise.…
