Healthy People 2010 Objectives
Category I The source I chose for category 1 is Healthy People 2010 Objectives, found at the website, www.healthypeople.gov. This URL is the official website where you can find all the information about Healthy People 2010. Healthy People 2010 is a list of objectives for our nation that is set every ten years, that we will try to meet. The objectives are all health related and cover a wide range of different health aspects. Specifically, the list includes 28 different focus areas with a total of 467 objectives. All of which, you can find with detailed information while navigating through this website. The idea behind Healthy People is simple. It is to identify the most significant and preventable threats to health in our nation and establish our goals to reduce these threats. So, there is no way they can provide detailed information about a specific topic. My topic is about nutrition intervention in the treatment of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and other eating disorders. Only one of the 467 objectives deals specifically with eating disorders. Under focus number 18, which is “Mental Health and Mental Disorders,” the fifth objective is to “Reduce the relapse rates for persons with eating disorders including anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.” This is still a developmental objective, meaning that they do not have a specific number rate that they want to reduce to. However, they do show the definition of the two main eating disorders, while showing some facts that state that relapse rates are going up. What I found most interesting about this objective is that it was found under the focus of mental health disorders instead of the focus of Nutrition. In conclusion, this source does address my topic, but not in great detail. However, this is a credible source and does serve a great purpose as it raises health

    Measels, also known as rubeola, is a viral respiratory illness. Although vaccination is available in developed countries, it remains one of the leading causes of death among children worldwide (CDC, 2013). The degree of contagiousness of measles contributes to this alarming statistic. The first sign of measles is often an extremely elevated temperature and lasts for approximately one week. Other signs and symptoms include cold-like symptoms such as cough, watery eyes, and a runny nose. Also, small white lesions are visible on the interior of the mouth. A hallmark indication of the measles respiratory virus is the rash presenting on the face and neck, which spreads with time to the limbs. There is no antiviral for the measles at present time. However, a definitive treatment has been identified. Vitamin A supplements, two doses given 24 hours apart, have been proven to reduce the number of deaths resulting from this virus by half (WHO, 2014). The deaths that do result from the measles virus are typically due to complications resulting from the virus.…
