Heat Wave Persuasive Speech
As Canadians, we love the summer heat. We bask in it. We frolic in it. Then, we complain about it. It’s true. However, this week, every single complaint made about the weather is warranted because this heat wave is downright ridiculous. Ridiculous!

With that being said, raise your hand if you leave your home in the morning with perfect make-up and five minutes later, you resemble a female version of Alice Cooper. You and me both. Don’t worry – we have you covered with these 5 simple steps on how to prevent your make-up from melting off in this heat wave.

1. Oil is as guilty as sweat when it comes to melting make-up. Skin tends to produce more oil in the summer months, so make sure to use an oil preventative cleanser and blot your face with

Use soft natural colors on eyes, cheeks, and lips. Browns, pinks and neutral are all appropriate choices. We do require that you wear mascara and lipstick or gloss. Remember, you never know when there will be a camera in your face. Do not clump your eyelashes with mascara. One to two coats of most mascara is more than enough. Wear lipstick or gloss, making sure to refresh the application throughout the day as needed. Wear a light blush for day and deepen the color for evening. Be sure to blend all makeup. When applied, makeup shouldn't appear as if you are wearing a mask. Orange faces and necks that appear to be a different color are not…

In the colonial United States up to seventeen hundred, most of the settlers inhabiting the land happened to be of English origin. Although, they came from the same whereabouts, the two poles of the colonies, north and south, developed two distinct societies. For example, in the New England area the settlers developed an egalitarian, unified, and organized atmosphere, while in the Chesapeake region residents created an aristocratic, unloyal, and scattered environment. But, if they are of the same origin, how did they develop such divergent societies? This difference was a result of opposite immigration and settlement patterns, and motives.…

To listen to the music of the wilderness, is to listen to the howl of the wolf. Man may never fully understand the composer, nor his passion behind each note, but the aura of mystery that surrounds him will forever fill our dreams with wonder and adventure. For centuries, wolves have carried their melodies on a small island in northern Lake Superior, known as Isle Royale. Completely cut off from the mainland, Isle Royale is extremely isolated, with only a handful of human structures and trails. The wolves who reside on the island are not alone, however, accompanied by a native of the cervidae family, the moose (Peterson). Together, these two species, combined with the remote nature of Isle Royale, produce one of the most incredible ecological relationships in the world. Their lives deeply intertwined, the moose and wolves share a unique predator-prey relationship. The moose consume the raw flora of the island, and the wolves feed on the moose without competition from other predators. The distribution of both species is limited to the islands shores, which creates a highly controlled setting. Such an incredible scenario has drawn the attention of biologists and ecologists from around the world. Beginning in 1958 and continuing to present day, the Isle Royale Research Project has intensively researched, documented, and monitored the interaction between the wolf and moose free of human presence (Peterson). The island is the perfect location for a study. In essence the island itself acts as a controlled laboratory, and the researchers can observe the interaction between the species away from human impact.…

Finally, to set the look, we will use luminous powder. They have the interesting ability to reflect light particles, making you skin look glowing and highly polished. Contrary to matt powders, this powder will not make your face appear dull and lifeless but will make it shine from within without looking too greasy. I am by no means saying that you should not use matt powders but you will surely find that luminous ones create a much more sophisticated and polished look.…

Imagine that you trained all your life for that special moment of playing in your first NHL game. At the beginning of your first shift in the game suddenly another player’s stick comes up and strikes you in the eye. This incident ends your career. This could have been prevented if you wore a visor. I think visors should be mandatory in the NHL in order to improve a player’s safety. Statistics have proven players who wear visors in the NHL play less aggressive. There are many incidents involving sticks and pucks going into player’s faces. A recent incident occurred between Philadelphia’s Chris Pronger and Toronto’s Mikhail Grabovski. Furthermore, two years ago a former NHL player Brad May, Gave a speech supporting the use of visors.…

PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…
