Hedy Lamar was a brilliant mind, but sexism and her beauty interfered. She designed a way for transmitters & receivers to jump frequencies simultaneously and intended it to be used for torpedoes. Years later, the technique was and still is used in wifi. Wifi has shaped my life and helped me with my busy schedule, friends and family, and my education.
The past few years, I have had to juggle several clubs and after school activities on top of homework. Being the forgetful person that I am, the calendar and reminders app have been fruitful. Most of my teachers update their calendar everyday, informing students of further tests and quizzes as well as assignments. Birthdays and anniversaries are also easy to plan for when you don't have to worry about forgetting. Meetings for Odyssey of the Mind and Science Olympiad are posted on the school website, which I wouldn't be able to access without wifi. I would probably miss a lot of deadlines without wifi.
A lot of my family lives in India, where mailing a letter would be inconvenient. Being able to FaceTime and text my family whenever I feel like it is much easier then it would be if I had to write a letter. It is simple and a lot quicker too. Sometimes I feel bored at home, and when I do I can always just text my friends. The great part is that I don't have to worry about having to wait too long. Emergencies are also a time where I can always depend on wifi to help me. I can call my family or friends and I won't have to worry. Over spring and summer break, wifi is the only thing keeping me close to my friends. I don't see them for two months, which is a long time when you are used to seeing them practically every weekday.
