Summary of Myth/Legend/Tale- When Helen reached puberty, she was kidnapped by the King of Athens, Theseus. Castor and Pollux, Helens brothers rescued her and returned her to her home in Sparta. Suitors from across the world represented the finest heirs to wealth and property came to Sparta to the chance to gain Helens hand in marriage. Helen chose Menelaus to be her husband and they had 5 children together. One day, the goddess Aphrodite promised Paris, prince of Troy, the most gorgeous woman in the world. Paris went to Sparta and kidnapped Helen when Menelaus was away at Crete. Menelaus then sent his Greek men to look for her. They left for Troy and this caused the start of the Trojan War. Paris is killed during the War and the Greeks succeed in winning so Helen returns back with Menelaus.
