Hidden Figures Film Analysis

For My outside event I chose to watch the film Hidden Figures. Within this film it has shared the story of Dorothy Vaughn, Mary Jackson, and Katharine Johnson, were three amazing African American women who were able to cross boundaries that seemed impossible of the late 1950’s-ealry 1960’s of the south. These three brave women had crossed racial, gender and career oriented boundaries that were placed in front of them. They were able to accomplish more then our textbooks didn’t tell us about the United States race to space. These women were able to push pass the segregation barriers that had kept them from blossoming to the their full potential within their work aspect of line. it should that women can further their education and become more then a domestic house wife. Not much women worked at high preforming task jobs such as engineering, and computer sciences; as these women demonstrated within this film. In fact Mary Jackson fought with
Doing the “impossible”, what is considering out of the norm. Although it was a good thing, it did come with challenges they must cover look to push through to get their dream Job During this film this women had suffered from assimilation blues, which they were black women now working in a full white male environment. Although it was as privilege being able to work at NASA as engineers and mathematicians, their jobs came with repercussions. Like Daniel Tatum have stated within his reading, “Why are all the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?”, these ladies have came the role model for their race and society of not only a black person, but a women can do when you continue to push forward no matter the standards. Not only do they have to be the example to their own race but their own children. Their children are the ones that looked up to them more then anybody else.
