After Sir Andrew gives the letter to Sir Toby he says,”Here’s the challenge, read it. Warrant there’s vinegar and pepper in ’t.”. Sir Toby and Fabian reads the letter and says it’s marvellous even though the letter is foolish and terrible. This shows hidden identity in relation to Sir Toby deceiving Sir Andrew. This shows that Sir Toby isn't as good as a friend Sir Andrew believes. In Twelfth Night Sir Toby is Olivia’s uncle, however in She’s the Man Toby is friends with Duke and Andrew. An example of the use of the key idea hidden identity in She’s the Man in relation to Toby is when Toby likes Eunice, but everyone makes fun of him, however when Viola dressed up as Sebastian she pretends to like Eunice and everyone is cool with it and Toby says, “How come when I wanted to ask out Eunice everyone made fun? Sebastian likes her, suddenly she's cool? Screw you guys. I hate high school.”. This shows that Andy Fickman has updated Shakespeare’s play through hidden identity.
