Studies suggests that a high-fat diet is associated with obesity. In several populations, body weight is directly related to the percentage of fat in their diets. When consumption of chips, potatoes, sugar sweetened beverages, red meat and processed meat was increased, it resulted in weight gain.
Conversely, an intake of vegetables, whole grains, fruits, nuts and yoghurt was inversely associated with weight gain. However, the groups that increase their fat consumption also appeared to increase their carbohydrate intake (chips cooked in fat, for instance), so can this result be relied upon? Most of fatty food is also high in carbs. The carbs are a big responsible for obesity.
Fast-food consumption is also associated with weight gain and
