a) Christopher Michael Benoit was born on May 21, 1967 and died on June 24, 2007. He was a professional wrestler all his life and is known mainly for his time spent in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He was born in Montreal Quebec, Canada, but was raised in mainly Edmonton Alberta, Canada. Chris lived with both his parents and had an older sister. All his life Chris Benoit had a passion for pro wrestling and knew from his youth that he would want to become one. In his early days as a pro wrestler, Benoit met Eddie Guerrero, also an aspiring pro wrestler at the time and they became extremely close friends. They, along with another close friend of Benoit’s, Dean Malenko, eventually made it to the top wrestling promotion at the time known as World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and then they all went to the WWE together when their contracts expired.
b) Chris Benoit started his wrestling career at a local promotion in Alberta known as Stampede Wrestling. The renowned Hart Family owned the promotion, which is where Benoit would usually train as well. He wrestled in the promotion for 4 years from 1985-1989 where he earned a lot of accolades. He won his first title against Gama Singh in 1986 and would go on to win 4 more titles before leaving the promotion. After spending time in promotions such as New Japan Pro Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling, Benoit finally was signed to a deal by the WWE, something that he had wanted from the start. He started off mostly as a tag team wrestler winning several Tag Team Championships with numerous other wrestlers. Finally, in 2004 Benoit was given the opportunity to advance in his WWE career when he was given a push as a singles wrestler. He ended up winning the WWE Title, solidifying himself as one of the best wrestlers to lace up a pair of boots. Chris Benoit wrestled his last match ever against Elijah Burke on June 19, 2007.
