Title of the Speech: Relationship between High School and College Football
Specific Purpose Statement: I want to display the similarities and differences of high school and college football and show how they can complement each other.
Thesis Statement: High school and college football have their similarities and differences, but at the end of the day, high school football helps prepare players for the college football experience.
Introduction: Football, like other sports, has many levels of operation. Two of these levels are high school and college. They are very similar but very different at the same time.
(Transition to Body) 1. High school and college football have their similarities. A. High school and college have mostly the same rules when it comes to the game of football. B. Both levels of the game require a large amount of time investment.
2. High school and college football also have differences between each other. A. College football is much more job-like because most of the time, there are scholarships involved with the players. B. The offenses and defenses in college are usually much more complex than that of high school. C. In college, players are men; they are bigger, faster, and stronger than high school players.
3. High school football can help prepare players for the college football experience. A. Both levels of football are becoming more similar. B. Depending on how a high school player produces, he could get recruited by college programs.
