Hip Hop Nation goes from being a mere method of advertisement to a way to voice your opinions . “African Americans across the country who identified with [rap] were informed by it a medium through which to share national culture. In the process, rap artists became the dominant public voice of this generation” (Kitwana 10) “Historically, African Americans have shown a strong degree of racial solidarity, largely because they had common problems and saw their fate as intricately linked” (Collins 14). The brutal discrimination that african americans face in America throughout the nation’s history logically enforced an intense amount of solidarity among the African American community . Racial solidarity was introduced to us in the 50’s during the civil right movement which African Americans and supporters throughout the United States performed acts of civil resistance in an attempt to incite political and social change. This culture has been known throughout years for it explicit language and rivals between different parts of the world .Although you can go either way towards liking or disliking the urban culture , there is a positive effect that come out of it .
Though rap started out as a force for positive social change, popular subgenres of hip-hop such as "gangsta rap" have since eroded much of the art form's value to society. Impressionable young people are negatively affected by rappers' obsession with guns, drugs, sex, and material possession. Numerous studies have demonstrated that playing violent video games leads to increased aggression; thus, such games should be subjected to laws restricting children's access to them. Violent video games are not like other forms of expression, because the user is an actual participant in the events portrayed in the
game.

The group’s lyrics weren’t as violent though , some of their songs even promoted self love . More violence has come from the brutality shown in modern video games than hip hop culture , Stats show that in the study, children ages 8 to 17 who played a lot of violent video games showed an increase in aggressive behavior — such as hitting, shoving and pushing — three years later, compared to their behavior at the study start. Music simultaneously reflects trends, ideals, conditions in society, and inspires attitudinal progression and social change. To this end, Hip Hop in the United States can be perceived as “a blend of reality and fiction” insomuch that “rap music is a contemporary response to conditions of joblessness, poverty, and disempowerment… it is a rebellion against white America’s economic and psychological terrorism against Black people” (Smitherman 5).
