When the bomb hit it was radioactive and never touched the ground. It imploded in the air and still caused mass destruction. This specific bomb killed approximately 140,000 people and civilians. The worst part was that some of the victims were children and newborns in the orphanage. Some people died instantly and others sadly had to withstand pain and suffering until they healed or died. It was a horrible way to end such wonderful and valuable lives.

It killed about 140,000 Japanese and some Americans who woke up that day thinking it would be a normal day. That was about ⅓ of the population of Hiroshima at the time. That is a huge number if you really think about it in a sense of how big your city is. The estimated number of people in a city is about 9,500 people. That would be about 15 cities wiped out. Let’s take 9/11 for example; 2997 people died that day. We think of that day as the “worst day in American history”. I don’t know about anyone else, but I wouldn’t wish that pain to my country to anyone on Earth, so why would we want to cause so much destruction to a thriving city such as Hiroshima, Japan.
