to a war was one of the most memorable events that has happened throughout history making it an important part of who we are. So yes it is an important part of the world history, is it a good part? However war has been a huge part of society, it is unnecessary because of the outrageous expenses, unbelievable amount of casualties, and the ending comes with jurassic measures. To begin, the outrageous expenses that war brings can put nations into debt.
This debt can cause thoughts asking if the war was even worth starting if you end in a loss of billions of dollars. So in the United states alone every war we have been involved in caused us the loss of money and not much of a gain. So what is the point, if a war has started and nations are just looking for a way out, because of the amount of money they lose. As stated by The Watson Institute of International and Public Affairs Costs of War Article “The current wars have been paid for almost entirely by borrowing...Unless the US immediately repays the money borrowed for war, there will also be future interest payments. We estimate that interest payments could total over $7.9 trillion by 2053.” Just imagine if the $7.9 trillion dollars a country spends on war could be used to rebuild an economy instead of tearing down one, that could help change people's lives for the better. Much of wars have gone over budget several millions, even billions of dollars, this is due to the fact that no war is settled overnight, nor very easily. According to The Atomic Bomb Museum the bombs dropped in Japan, Little Boy and Fat Man, were put on a budget of $2 million for research, in the end it exceeded another $1 million dollars making it the largest military budget the US has ever invested in (http://atomic bomb museum.org). This aswell could have been money used to help build a city not wreck
one. In addition, the casualties that war brings is terrifying to think about. In each war there seems to be two types of ends a win and a lose, the win or the lose doesn’t depend on how many have been lost. So to have fought for a country that you love so much that you would risk your life is one of the biggest sacrifices to thought of. The majority of the people who fight do not come back at all or the same person they left as. Stated by Steven Reinberg and Health Day Reporter “The researchers estimate that 5.4 million people died from 1955 to 2002 as a result of wars in 13 countries. These deaths range from 7,000 in the Democratic Republic of Congo to 3.8 million in Vietnam.” (http://abcnews.go.com). Steven Reinberg and Health Day explain how in less than ten years 5.4 million people died because of war. This number is astonishing to think about how that many people remain affected by war in single year. Not only do these casualties affect the person themself, but the family of the person. The loss of a family member or friend is something to think of, it will happen to everyone, but to pass in an inhuman way like many do in war is horrible. When entering a war, most people think that they might not come back alive to see their families ever again, so for this sacrifice that is made for all countries is greatly appreciated by many. Just think what if this sacrifice wouldn’t have to be made. This could eliminate the torn families and the amount of grief that comes with death. Finally, the end of a war doesn’t end pretty. By this I mean a war doesn’t end until one side goes too far. This jurassic measure can cause massive destruction. The bombing of Hiroshima was indeed a way to end the war, but this took so much money to make and it created an even bigger problem Japan had to deal with. According to Avalon Project by Yale Law school “In Hiroshima over 60,000 of 90,000 buildings were destroyed or severely damaged by the atomic bomb; this figure represents over 67% of the city's structures. In Nagasaki 14,000 or 27% of 52,000 residences were completely destroyed and 5,40O, or 10% were half destroyed.” (page 9 of website, http://avalon.law.yale.edu/). This gives information of the amount of damage done by
