Leo Tolstoy’s Russian folk tale “The old Grandfather and His Grandson” and Sandra Cisneros's “Abuelito Who” have the same universal theme about the importance of grandchildren always loving and respecting their grandparents.
In “The Grandfather and His Grandson,” a Russian folk tale, the old and weak grandfather, as when he ate food would fall from his mouth, and he broke their clay bowls, now he eats in a corner by the stove. “His daughter-in-law, scolded him, and said that he spoiled everything and broke their dishes”. But a week later, the little grandson, was was putting together little wooden pieces, as his parents, watched him, his father asked “What are you making?” The little grandson replied, “A wooden bucket, so when you and mother get old, I’ll feed you out of this wooden dish.” The pheasant and his wife looked at each other with tears streaming down their faces. Here in the folk tale the son is treating his father poorly, and then their son thought that is how you, treat elderly. Then the couple finally, let the Grandfather eat at the table again, with a clay dish like the rest of

In “Abuelito Who?” an informal yet very intimate poem, the grandfather is, aging and is not coming down from his room, to play with his granddaughter, and the other adults, he is growing weaker, by day, and then her doesn’t live there anymore. He used to spend money a lot on the people in need, and for birthdays, and Christmas. He would used to tell his granddaughter, ‘you are my diamond’, and ‘you are my sky’.
But even though, her grandfather is gone, she still hears him inside her head, this poem, is showing how much is granddaughter, loves her grandfather, she, took care of him and wrote a poem about him too. Now she is kind, respecting her grandparent, and so should you! In “Abuelito Who?”, “Who tells e in spanish, you are my diamond” her grandfather is telling her how pretty she is, and how much he loves her. “Who loves him who?” hope he knows how much his granddaughter loves him! He tells the speaker how important she is to him. The theme is that grandfathers have a big impact on our lives. She wants to know who loves Abuelito. The mood is happiness, then it gets sadder.
This poem, shows the importance of how much grandparents impact on our lives, and how much they care for us! Though you may not like your grandparents, still they have always been there for you, even if you don't know it, they were always taking care of you and your parents when they needed babysitting or help, with something, so always give them credit, no matter what!
Respect your grandparents, no matter the cause, and they have always been there for you.
