a single card on Mr. Hunt; they came to the conclusion that someone took the card. Woodward contacted Deep throat for some entail and arranged a meeting in a parking garage. Deep throat told Woodward to forget the myths and just follow the money trail. Bob made an appointment at the Miami district attorney’s office.
After Bernstein appointment being canceled and being ignored all day; he made his own way to see Mr. Dardis by tricking the woman at the front desk. After going through the checks, Bernstein found a check from the Midwest finance chairman for twenty-five thousand dollars that was given to the burglars. The person who signed off the check was Kenneth Dahlberg. Woodward called Mr. Dahlberg he was displeased with the conversation, but he stated that he gave the check to Maurice Stans. The reporter shortly found out that the people who were donating the checks, did not know what the CREEP was doing with the money. Both Woodward and Bernstein found there were illegal slush funds with hundreds of thousands of dollars of unaccountable cash. After Carl had visited Hugh Sloan bookkeeper, she stated that in a two-day period the CREEP received six million dollars in cash. The journalist met with Hugh Sloan and he told them that the white house signs off on all CREEP activities. The journalist then looked into Segretti he stated the he was offered the job and he was being paid to travel the country to sabotage democratic campaigns. Bernstein connected Haldeman, Nixon aid to the slush
fund. Woodward met with Deep Throat to discuss “rat-f*” which means infiltration of the democrats. The journalist went back to the Sloan’s residents and confirms that Haldeman is the fifth man to control the fund. After publishing the store about Haldeman, he denied everything, and Joe denied the things he told Bernstein. Woodard was supposed to meet Deep Throat, but he overslept. When meeting Deep Throat told him that it involves the entire U.S. intelligence committee. He also stated that Woodard that his life and Bernstein might be in danger and there is surveillance bugging. The cover up was to protect the covert operations and activities. The reporters found out that the break in had been planned by Nixon and the CREEP administration. After president Nixon wins the election and gets sworn in, the journalists wrote all presidents men are getting prosecuted. The film uses good and accurate representation of the investigation and the type of investigation techniques. For instance, how Woodward and Bernstein tricked Sloan into verbally confirming the fifth man that control the fund. One inaccuracy of the film is Woodward and Bernstein were working alone in the empty newsroom. The article stated that everyone in the building had a little part in the Watergate investigation. ¬¬The film left out important people such as Katharine Graham. Graham was the one protecting and defending the Washington Post from attacks from the government. She is the main reason the company is still here today. The result of not including Graham it led to an inaccuracy at the end when the two journalists go confirm the story with Bradlee. A few other inaccuracies were some part of the movie was exaggerated and it was harder to follow the money as Deep Throat suggested. The movie really did not go into great detailed about Woodward and Bernstein relationship, but in reality, they had a rocky business relationship. They also had a lot of disagreeing on the details of the Watergate and often fight. After the film was published the scandal set in peoples’ mind on how politically corrupted the government was. Some immediately impacts charging the president’s men and after Nixon resigned, Gerald Ford was appointed the new president. After the releasing of the film the Americans trusted the government less and the voter rate decreased. Another long-term impact was a passing of ethics in government act. This law was passed in the vigil of the Watergate Scandal. In the film All the President’s Men contains a roman a clef. The roman a clef is Sally Aiken, but it was based off of Marilyn Berger. I have noticed throughout the movie the investigation had a nice and steady flow, but at the end it was a bit rushed. It seems as the film directors just threw the ending together.
