Agricultural Revolution

Respond to each of the following questions in two to three sentences:

1 What are the three most important factors contributing to the agricultural revolution in Europe?

The three important factors that contributed to the agricultural revolution in Europe were warmer temperatures, the three-field systems, and the better farming equipment. The warmer temperatures made the process of farming easier along with the ability to travel in longer distances. The three-field system provided a much easier process to produce more foods. Also, with the advancement of farming technology, the farming productivity increased and changed the laborers’ work.

2 How did the agricultural revolution change European society? Provide an example.

With the advancement of technology it has helped make the agricultural process faster by the inventions of machines and less man labor, which would lead to minimizing a man power workforce. Such as the invention of the steam engine, that is a heat engine that uses steam.

The most important changes that contributed to the industrial revolution are the invention of machines. With the invention of machines the use of steam and electricity, which shaped how to reproduce products and goods.

4 Describe working conditions in factories and mines between 1800 and 1850. What was life like for a typical worker? Reference at least one primary source to support your response.

Working conditions consisted of manual labor in extreme warm weather, working 6 days a week in 12 – 14 shifts, unequal pay rates between men and women where women were paid less, and child labor.
