Paper 1 * Based on the Prescribed Subjects * Communism & Crisis * Arab Israeli Conflict * Peacemaking – Peacekeeping * Themes * Wilson & 14 Points * Terms of the Paris Peace Treaties * Geo-Political Economic & Mandate Impact in Europe * The Conferences (Washington, London, Geneva, etc.) * Provisions of all the Treaties * Principles & Threats to Collective Security * Ruhr Crisis * Locarno/Locarno Era – “Locarno Spirit” * 5 Documents, 4 Questions – 60 minutes + 5 minutes to read * Question 4 ALWAYS involves the use of ALL 5 Documents and background knowledge * Given 5 minutes prior to read all of the documents * NEVER use the word “bias” * A replacement can be objectivity * Avoid saying that a source is primary or secondary * Keep your approach to analyzing the sources as simple as possible

(the source) * When was it said/written/produced? * Where was it said/written/produced? * To/for whom was it said/written/produced? * Concern yourself with: reliability of the source (determine the value) * Unreliable sources may still be valuable – recognize their “unreliability” * Value & Limitation * Objective or Subjective? * “Biased?” (DO NOT use the word “biased”) * Primary or Secondary Source? * Contemporary? * Eye Witness? * Official Record? * Private? * Propoganda? * Written with hindsight?
