In an article called “No Stopping Till Everyone ‘Likes’ Katie” on August 20, 2012 is based on the new Disney- ABC’s talk show, Katie. ABC is using the tools of technology and the wealth of social media to promote Katie Couric’s new talk show. All of the main advertising began on the website KatieCouric.com, where the show’s on-air and digital content branches out across the social media. The main social media Katie’s digital team has covered is Facebook, Twitter, and now has got up to date with Pintrest and Instagram. Before Katie Couric decided to start up her own talk show, she was the anchor on the CBS evening news and NBC’s Today show. While on those shows she has gained many fans and followers in social media sites, which is how she hopes to gain all her viewers. By being so popular and a big hit on these social media site it such a smart stradegy to get viewers and to get people involoved in the show. Katie Couric’s new talk show has the main intention of having the audience feel the message is directly for them. Couric wants to be able to connect with her audience and engage with viewers once they start watching. By having all these ways to get in touch with her audience through social media, I believe, Couric to proceed with this show the best possible way. In the past when television show began they never had the opportunity to be able to reach there audience in any similar way they do now. Also, if an audience member or viewers wanted to speak into a show or interact, they would have to wait on a line for their opinions to be heard. With todays technology, there are many way to get in touch with the Television host. There are other ways through social media advertising that the Katie show uses to promote

    Yes, I think the internet hurts more than helps artist. Before the Internet, artists were selling their CD’s and everything was fine. Since the Internet, many problems arrived. Ten years ago, the biggest record labels were worried about online piracy. Fearing piracy and seeing the fall in the CD sales, they decided to license their records to new online services. The idea was to use a new technology, share music while collecting small fees and discourage fans from stealing music online. But it didn't work as most of the listeners hear free music online because it is much cheaper than purchasing music. Nevertheless, many people (like myself) are aware of the fact that these artists make a living off their album so if they really like it they will decide to buy it on iTunes. I believe that some artist may have difference in opinion simply because they actually understand that not everyone will have $9.99 to purchase their album. Most of the artist that I listen to have a "rags to riches" story and can empathize with lower income individuals. I recently purchased some of the artist J. Cole's songs via iTunes and in one of his songs entitled "Note to Self" basically said, he did not care if only two people bought the album, he just felt proud of himself as an artist. It is not all about money to some (very few actually) of these artist. To that artist that is more after the money, I guess they would take the position that technology does in fact hinder them, however to someone like J. Cole, he would say. it has no barring.…

    The origin and history of local broadcasting is a dense, intriguing one that leads down many a rabbit hole. Starting with the development and utilization of coaxial cables in the 1980s, which began a new era where cable television reigned. The laying of these cables allowed for easier access to cable television across the country, that led to new forms of broadcasting, especially in the area of local television. Many cities around the country began to form their own independent operated-and-owned television stations where they created their own content and/or aired programs made by it’s citizens. This type of locally made, free-for-all content was called public access television. The 1980’s was an era where public access emerged and thrived, people from anywhere with any idea could buy air and studio time to make whatever show they wanted. There were also really no rules or regulations to what people could put on the air. For example, if someone wanted to make a show were there was blatant nudity it would be aired. However, not every public access program was akin to an LSD trip or displayed a naked couple in their jacuzzi. Many of these public access programs opened up a medium in which to discuss relevant, hot button topics.
