History Of Skateboarding
The First Skateboard
In 1958, the skateboard was made from roller skates attached to a deck. The deck was usually made out of wood or cardboard boxes. No one knows who exactly made the first skateboard, but there are several people claiming it was them, though there is no way to prove this for sure. Surfing became more and more popular and skateboarding became a way to “surf” on land.
The Beginning of Skating
Roller Derby, starting in 1959, produce many skateboards with metal wheels.
A couple years later surfboard companies started making better quality skateboards using clay wheels and trucks to make skating easier.
Soon after that the first skate contest was held in California, 1963.

People started experimented with many different things for decks such as metal, wood, you name it. This is also around the time when skateparks came to be. Along with the skateparks, people would attempt riding other things as well such as, ramps, walls and slopes. Skaters would more often than not ride empty swimming pools, making new tricks, and just cruising around. Some of the first tricks invented were: aerials, inverts and the …show more content…
Soon skateboarding began to appear in things like commercials, tv shows and “skater fashion” also began to trend.
Skating Records
There are many different records in skateboarding but here's a few of the best.
Danny way has won many skateboarding records. ONe of his greatest of which is for the longest jump and highest air off a ramp. In 2004, he broke his own record and set a new records of 79 ft. Danny Way used a similar ramp to jump the great wall of china and became the first person to jump the wall without help from a motor. Another record that was been held belongs to Ted McDonald as he covered 242 miles in a 24 hour time period.
Lastly is the highest speed someone has got on a skateboard. Mischo Erban set a new speed record on 9/31/10 when he reached 80 mph. This record is official but was set at a secret location in Colorado,

    Rob Dyrdek is a skating pro and has been for over 20 years. He has built himself up out of the ground through hard work and dedication to his sport. When he started, skateboarding wasn't even considered a sport. But Rob was determined to show the world just what skating could be. He was 11 when he started skating. He received his first skateboard from pro skater Neil blender, whose sponsor chose Rob to sponsor that next year. He later turned pro at age 16 in 1991. After he turned pro, Rob and Neil left their sponsor to create the board company Alien Workshop, which Rob still owns today. In 1995 Rob joined the DC team, which was previously named droors clothing. On June 16 of 1998, the Training Facility was completed.
