Some things that the villagers had left behind was the memories, there homes and even their culture. With the arrival of Francisco Pizarro and his conquistadors in 1592, the Inca empire was seriously threatened for the first time. Tricked into meeting with the conquistadors in a "peaceful" meeting Incan emperor, Atahualpa, was kidnapped and held for ransom. His ransom was paid and he was promised to be set free, but was strangled to death by the Spaniards. This was the beginning of a civil war that would change their way of life. With invasions from the spaniards and the europeans people began to die by diseases like smallpox, influenza, typhus, diphtheria, chickenpox and measles, disease spread alarmingly fast as Amerindians did not have the immunity to fight off newly brought viruses. …show more content…
