1. Dear Journal, The year is 1530 and we have finally survived our long voyage and have discovered a new land. We have arrived in a beautiful lush land filled with many natural resources. There are grand coastlines and rivers, with breathtaking mountains. This is certainly a majestic land to behold and that we will explore. Captain Pizarro says that we are on a mission to expand our kingdom of Spain for the good of Christianity. Captain Pizarro says that we cannot leave and go back to Spain until we have conquered these lands! We are only a small group but Captain Pizarro is determined to prove that he is even a better explorer than Captain Cortés. Captain Pizarro says that a floating raft was intercepted nearby that had a treasure chest filled with fine textiles, silver, and gold. He is convinced that the mythical city of "El Dorado" must really exist and that it is nearby.Therefore, our group must …show more content…
2. Dear Journal, This new land is an incredibly diverse land filled with incredible resources and riches. There are a wealth of different foods that are new to all of us, but are delicious. These new foods include corn, potatoes, squash, and tomatoes, to name a few. There are also new varieties of animals. Of course, there are savage people that live here and that we must win over or conquer. These people are called the Inca and control a huge empire. In fact, the Inca Empire is massive and they control half of this continent. The Incas have a vibrant economy based on agriculture and also have fortified cities with a sophisticated network of roads. Their main livestock are animals called llamas and alpacas. This Inca empire really is amazing. Unfortunately for the Inca, their emperor recently died and there has recently been a power struggle going on with two rivals attempting to claim the Inca throne.
