September: It’s been a month and I’m starting to get a little suspicious. I don’t feel that Columbus is telling us the truth. The days seem like we should have traveled farther than he has been telling us. There was some object that fell from the sky on September 15. It frightened me, but Columbus assured us that he’s seen that before. There was also some sort of eruption. Columbus said that it was a Tenerife. We’ve started to see signs of land, but there is no land in sight. The crew is starting to complain that we haven’t seen land yet. I’ve started to get a little seasick.

I was helping Columbus decide which island to go to because there were so many. We decided to go to the biggest one that we could see. The big island was named Cuba. I am feeling very joyful that we have found so much land. We haven’t stayed long at any of the islands, so I feel we know nothing about them. All the people we have met are all the same. They speak the same language and have the same customs. All of the resources we have for food are amazing. It is nothing like we have at home. All the foods taste and look so much better here. I feel like this is the paradise we were looking for. As we continued on, we reached the coast of Cuba. Columbus said that Cuba is the Indian name for Japan, but I don’t believe him.
