How Did Christopher Columbus Voyage
Voyage with Christopher Columbus It was the year of 1492, when I heard the news from my brothers, Martín Alonso Pinzón and Vicente Yáñez Pinzón, that Christopher Columbus will be leading a voyage to find a faster route to the East and that he will be recruiting sailors to help him on the voyage. My brothers volunteered for job; with the long years of experience Martín became the captain of the Pinta, and Vicente captained the Niña. These two ships is out of three ships and my brothers had the honor to captain them; the last ship is the Santa María who was captained by Columbus. I am the youngest of my family since I am fifteen right now; I have no experience but since I came from a family of sailors, it has been my dream to be like my brothers to set sail into the sea. So we had a family meeting and I told family that I want to go on the voyage with my brothers and I am capable of it since I been studying since I was young about the sea. My skills will benefit the group since I can speak Chinese, Hebrew, …show more content…
And with that my brothers left and came back with the word from Captain Columbus that he will think about and the list of people going will be posted soon. Few days pass and finally the names are posted and my brothers names are on it, not surprised. I was about to lose hope until I saw the last name on the board which is Rico Martín Pinzón. We went home with the good news and went straight to packing. After biding well to our parents we head to the docks and aboard our ship. When I board the ship I found Captain Columbus right away and he told that I will be sleeping in small cabin next to his and I will learning under. On August 3, 1492 we departed mainland Spain. Then we quickly made port in the Canary Islands for a final restocking and left there on September

King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella promised Columbus that if he succeeded he would be given the rank of “Admiral of the Ocean Sea” and appointed Viceroy and Governor of all the new lands he could claim for Spain. Columbus was to be believed as a greedy man; however he did promise a reward to the sailor who spotted land. Given the quantity of the supplies it could be implied that this voyage was funded, some feared we would run out of food and other supplies. About half of the financing was to come from private Italian investors, whom Columbus had already lined up. After becoming broke from the Granada campaign, the monarchs left it to the royal treasurer to shift funds among various royal accounts on behalf of the enterprise. Columbus was to be made "Admiral of the Seas" and would receive a portion of all profits. The terms were unusually generous, but the monarchs did not really expect him to return. Many of my crew members became filled with doubt because no one believed that we would comeback as well, which is to be believed why the others on the other ships were feeling uneasy about this voyage. However my genes thirsted for adventure and exploration. Not for such profit as Columbus, but for the dangerous land no man has seen.…

Also, with gold almost to the point of extinction; and sugar being considered a luxury in Europe; Cristopher Columbus sailed himself into a journey to find riches for his queen. Columbus desired fame and fortune more than anything, and he found sympathizers in The Spanish monarchs Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castile. They aimed to obtain the same fate, along with the opportunity to expand Catholicism to lands across the globe. After conquering the only area that had resisted the Reconquista, the campaign that aimed to expulse the Arabs out of the Peninsula in the 1200’s, the first Catholic Monarchs wanted to become a world potency. Upon arriving and seeing with his own eyes the first group of inhabitants of the New World, Columbus became perplexed and so he remarked: “…

I find it interesting that we were raised up to think that Columbus was this great man who found America in 1492. After reading this first chapter we learn that he was a greedy cold blooded lying killer, he killed thousands of people and lied about what he was doing. He used the innocents of the Arawaks and basically wrote their death certificates. By tricking them into showing their gold and then taking all their people back to Spain was cattle. If it wasn’t the Columbus’s men killing and enslaving them it would be the diseases that they brought with them from the old world that surely exterminated the Arawak people (Burnett III).…

Christopher Columbus Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492. He sailed in three ships to where he thought at the time was India. He ended up landing in the Caribbean, in what is now Haiti. While landing upon the New World, Columbus and his men found that there was a whole civilization among them. On one of the islands that he found there were what Columbus stated as “great and beautiful mountains, vast fields, groves, fertile plants, very suitable for planting and cultivating, and for building the houses.”…

From the late 1400’s to the sixteenth century, European kings and queens were overwhelmed by, what is now known as, the Age of Discovery. With all the extensive overseas exploration by European nations trying to colonize on foreign land and globalize, many explorers took their chance to propose an idea for voyage. Arguably one of the greatest sails man and captain in history, Christopher Columbus first proposed his idea to sail west into the Atlantic Ocean to Portuguese royalty, where it was rejected. With his vision and persistence, he then approached Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand of Spain to propose his ideas and plans, where it was accepted in 1492, and the world was never to be the same again. It was because of Columbus that the New…

Because of his marriage to Felipa Perestrello, Columbus had gained access to his father in law's collection of maps and charts of the ocean. This helped him gain more knowledge of the sea. In the 15th century royal sponsorship was needed to fund an expedition. Columbus' decision to seek the Portuguese' sponsorship seemed like a good one because they had encouraged explorations for a while and the present monarch King John II was very interested in finding a route to the east. When Columbus approached the King with his idea, he passed it to his council who later denied the request because it was too expensive. Columbus would not back down, asking sponsorship from England and France but they would also deny his request. In 1485 Columbus moved to Spain with his son Diego. His intention was to persuade the Spanish crown to fund his voyage. This also seemed like a good idea because Spain was a crusading Christian nation with growing interest in the Atlantic. In between 1486 and 1487, Columbus had a chance to explain his plan. Although the King and Queen were interested, they were to busy fighting wars to give serious consideration to his plan. In 1488, it is believed that the Portuguese crown decided to give Columbus another chance because their great navigator Bartolomeu Dias, who was commissioned to discover the tip…
