The music industry 10 or 15 years ago is a lot different from the music industry today. The music industry is growing in the world today, and in order for music artists to continue making music they have to earn money. Advertising is a good start for small and big artists music to grow and get more popular in the music industry.
Advertising can get artists far into a good career, and can lead them far in the music industry. "For artists that are serious about there music career turning down a sponsorship or licensing agreement can be a big mistake."(Coates pg 8) For artists even 7 or 8 years ago even it wasn't too hard to make money or grow in the music industry, this is because people bought albums and cd's. Now days for artists it is more challenging to earn money because of all the people who rely on downloading cheaper music and streaming. So for artists now taking advantage of sponsorships is a smart idea because businesses can get music out …show more content…
in commercials and advertisements and artists can earn a good pay. Also the artists can get sponsored by corporations who will pay for costs of lots of expenses. Artists who want to make it far in the music industry should no doubt rely on sponsorships and advertising.
Artists in the music industry are now having a tough time because of all the downfalls of today's modern listening to free music.
The reason artists are having a hard time in today's society is because of apps like Spotify and cheap downloadable music. "The main problem facing many musicians is that payments-per-stream of a song are much lower than what an artist would receive from a download."(Carter pg 5) Because of the lower costs for artists it is hard for them to make much money now in society. The money that artists make is just not enough for all the expenses that come with touring and other expensive costs. This is why artists need to start putting there music in advertisements so they can have a good career in the music business. "A corporation paying for these costs can make the difference between artists growing their careers, or completely giving up on the music business altogether."(Coates pg 7) Advertising and partnerships with corporations is the new path for a successful
career.
Some people believe advertisements can lead to artists losing all they have worked for.
It is a challenge to keep the fans trust and to keep a good career path. Also one reason people say advertising is not a good idea is because "Many songs are written with specific intentions and meanings; they express an artist’s values and beliefs about the world."(Johnson pg 6) And if the artists music gets out into the hands of company's the artist does not have any more control over that song. But for any artist that wants to make it far in the music industry, it would be a shame not to advertise there music. The more time put in by artists into getting there music out there, the better relationship there will be with the fans. Advertising music has made many artists successful such as for example, the black eyed peas "For the Peas, this business model has more than paid off. Now a household name, the group discovered that the more invested they became in marketing and branding, the more successful they became with fans." (Coates pg 8) Advertising can be risky to do, but in the end it is well worth it because of all the popularity artists can get.
Advertising is a smart way for artists to grow in the music industry.
Although an artist putting his music out there has its downfalls there is a much bigger reward in the end. Sometimes artists have a tough time making money, but with sponsorship this would be something artists would not have to worry about. Back then artists did not have to worry about getting money through Ad streaming apps or digital downloads, but now that is what artists rely on. This is why it is so important for artists to try and get there music out there and get sponsorships, because this can be the difference between making money or just barely getting by
