Hobby: Leisure and Excellent Relaxation Technique
Hobby is defined as an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure. [1] It may be an outdoor or an indoor activity. The benefits of having hobbies and the reasons for having reading as my hobby will be discussed.

Hobbies help us to refocus on work. Taking some time to pursue hobbies helps us refocus on work with more energy and enthusiasm. Problems that seem unsolvable and situations that seem hopeless at work suddenly seem manageable after we have stepped away from the situation and focused on a hobby.

Hobbies help us to get naturally relieved from the daily routine of stressful life and it makes a good companion for you where you can let out all your emotions and thus get relief. Once our emotions are let out, we really feel much relaxed and light at mind and heart. It’s an excellent relaxation technique.

As for my hobby, reading helps mental stimulation. Studies have shown that staying mentally stimulated can slow the progress of, or prevent Alzheimer’s and Dementia. [2] Keeping our brain active and engaged prevents it from losing power. The phrase “use it or lose it” is particularly apt when it comes to my mind.

Reading reduces stress. When I’m reading a book, my mind shifts gears. When I have a stressful day, a book can easily distract me and make me relaxed. Reading an awesome fiction book is perfect right before bed time, though sometimes it’s hard to put the book down if it’s really good.

Reading improves knowledge. Everything I read fills my head with new bits of information. The more knowledge I have, the better-equipped I am to tackle any challenge I might ever face.
In conclusion, hobbies are crucial in keeping us happy and healthy throughout life. For me, I will continue enjoying reading. (303 words)

Reading is my life. It’s my escape from the world around me. I love getting lost in a story about monsters and myths, or a Cinderella gone wrong. If I didn’t draw as much as I did, I’d probably be the anti-social bookworm in the back, like in all those cliche teenage love stories. It’s actually quite surprising to see how many people dislike books, there’s nothing wrong with a little reading every once and awhile. But who am I to judge? I wasn’t a very big reader myself until maybe two years ago. Of course, that leads to the first reason why I enjoy reading so much.…

When I was younger I didn’t really know what I should do which almost caused me to think that every day of my life I was having anxiety because I had no direction. I started to read almost every single day which brought out a side of myself which wasn’t afraid to settle down and realize that there’s more to life then to always be doing something. Reading also brought the world to my attention and different career paths I could go in life whether I wanted to be like Santiago and live my life at sea, or if after reading Still Alice I would want to be a surgeon trying to cure diseases like Alzheimer’s. Every time that a new book was in my hands I would only imagine the path it would take me throughout my life. Reading brings out the true you and that’s something that no one can take…

Singing is something I enjoy doing when I’m all by my lonesome (seeing as how I have no confidence in exposing my voice). Last-but not least-of my hobbies it reading. I love escaping from my own reality for a while and into someone else’s, just letting my mind go numb for a bit. X. Although when I do visit my own reality I am planning out my future goals.…

Being able to read well depends on how much a person reads – the more, the better. This is beneficial for a successful career and for a more satisfying life. According to Jim Trelease, "The more you read, the better you get at it; the better you get at it, the more you like it; the more you like it, the more you do it.
