Holistic Approach To Study

There are many views on the topic of what psychology encompasses. Peoples views surrounding what the uses of psychology are revolve around their life experiences and needs. If I was to describe psychology broadly, I would say, psychologists aim to study the human experience. In doing this psychologists take five main approaches on how to study humans being: neurobiological, behavioral, cognitive, humanistic, and psychoanalytical. None of these approaches can alone explain why humans function and act how they do. The most inclusive way to study human behavior is to incorporate all five approaches and this is called the holistic approach. There is merit on treating mental issues according to biological factors, however psychological issues are more than neurons misfiring. Similarly, the behavioral approach focuses on how our social environment influences our actions. However, this approach neglects to address the will power of humans that is not always limited by how others respond to our actions. The cognitive approach discusses how our choices are made off of information and are judged by whether or not the response is appropriate. Although this is often the case, humans are emotional by nature and emotions drive a lot of our responses. Although people try to remain level headed people will not always select the most politically correct response when they are hurt. One of the more popular approaches is the humanistic approach which, discusses choice and feeling. Humans however still encounter a lot of grief and tragedy, so we must recognize our own limitations. The last approach is psychoanalytical and it discusses how humans are slanted towards evil. If this view is completely true then our world would hold no accountability for our own
