As previously mentioned due to the lack of affordable health care majority of the illnesses go untreated and undiagnosed (23). “The barriers to care for homeless youth include confidentiality issues, need for parental insurance, distrusts of adults and professional agencies, denial on the part of the youth of a need for care, and lack of coordinated services and outreach for homeless youth” (“Understanding the Health Care”). Having a stable housing is a foremost constituent for imrpoving a homeless teengaer’s health status (“Understanding the Health Care”). Homeless teengaers also confront with bad oral health (“Physical and Reproductive Health”). The cause of poor oral health is because of lack of nutrition and incapacity of cleaning
mouth. “As with homeless adults, oral health is an often-neglected area of health by homeless youth” (“Understanding the Health Care”). Effects of teenager having decayed or missing teeth is that it causes low self esteem, impacts the want to get employment, and with socializing situations. Poor oral health also hinders with the homeless teen when endeavoring at improving their living situation (“Understanding the Health Care”).
