Homelessness In New York City's Penn Station

The phrase homeless people is a group in society that a majority of people know of. When someone utters the word homeless, there is an automatic thought of phrases or words similar to (read some and indicate word on power point). Most of perception of homeless people in our society that is created by a vast collection of myths and assumptions. It is also what society see on the exterior and by the media.

In the first text, is a news report made which was based on homeless people being unwanted in New York City’s Penn Station. A station that is surround by many attractions. In the interview the report show a large amount of disinterest and ignorance. This is shown
through his tone, posture and movements and also he does not directly look at the person being interview. It suggest that homeless being are unwelcome. In a way it seem that the new report aim was to be rate the homeless. Which then in some way does reflect the way society react to homeless people. Also media does tend to show the unpleasant side, be only showing the negative information. In the interview marginalised homeless people as drug addicts and alcoholics. Also the way they earn money is to prosecute, low payed job and begging for money. When media present homeless in a negative way it then leads to misconceptions.
