House Of Night Research Paper
The House of Night is a vampire series is a mother and daughter duo by P.C Cast and Kristin Cast. It follows a young teenager, Zoey Redbird who is marked as a Vampyre (Spelling in books) fledgling during a normal day at school. In this series the only way you become a vampyre is by biological change that begins in the body after puberty. It does not happen to all but those that it does happen too gains a fresh and sometimes painful outline of a crescent moon on their forehead.

Once this change happened to Zoey, her life was completely flipped upside down. Her mother and step-loser (nickname for stepdad) blamed her. Tried to cure her with religion and that only angered her more. her best friend was afraid of her and she nearly made a snack

Neferet the High Priestess of the school goes from being Zoey's shoulder to lean on to her worse enemy through out the series. In fact it seems many things that we assume in the first three books change more than we ever thought. There is way too much drama to fit in this small blog but what I will say is do not just read one. If you are going to, you'll have to finish the entire series for it all to make sense. ~~

Notable characters for me is Heath and Stark. Those are my favorites and make me the most emotional. I've never cared for a character as much as I do for Heath, his love and commitment to Zoey even after she changed tugged at the strings on my heart like no other book.

With that being said, Zoey did not impress me much however, I enjoyed that they kept her character true to her age. She may have did some things that made me wonder what in the world they put in her ounce of blood but what we readers have to remember is that this is a young adult book and Zoey is a teenager. At her age I think we might have handled most of her problems if not all in the same way. I don't expect her to be some bad ass vamp like Merit (Chicagoland Vampires) or Cat (Night

Do you think the Holocaust was fair? Dehumanization in the memoir of Elie Wiesel is repulsive. Night by Elie Wiesel was published in 1956. In this memoir all the Jews are put into concentration camps because Hitler despises Jews. The Jews struggle to hold on to their humanity. Dehumanization is the process by which the Nazis gradually reduced the Jews to little more than “things” which could easily be gotten rid of in terrible ways with no remorse. Three specific examples of events that occurred which dehumanized Eliezer, his father, and his fellow Jews acquaintances.…

It was Ruth Rendell that said “The knives of jealousy are honed on details.” Most people don’t even know what the Night of the Long Knives is, when people hear the name Night of the Long Knives they just think that it was a really bad event that happened a long time ago. I have been researching about what the Night of the Long Knives was, who was killed during the Night of the Long Knives, and what was the end result of the Night of the Long Knives. Do you actually know what the Night of the Long Knives is, and how innocent people died because some people had to much power?…

The character Lucy. Just as with appearance being a mask, her character finally removes the shackles that bound her to her sniveling self. The Masquerade is finally broken. This story point and her progression from a member of the Pretty Ones to the loners and finally to the Sluts gang has I feel an overall enjoyable story arc. Her character has moved from the nice, shy one who would let every step over her without so much as lifting a fist in her defense, to the scary psychotic female who if she has a knife or even for instance in the book itself, a pencil, can and will murder anyone for a can of food. As the face ripping, intestinal shredding violence of the series is almost personified by this character and a few others. As well as Lucy the arc involving Will finally seemed much more fleshed out. In the first book he was more David's annoying little brother. In The Saints he grew from boy to man, quite literally actually. Lastly, I really enjoyed the ending. Those last few chapters were jam packed with action, gore, I'll-intentions, terror and mystery. Also in regards the end of the book takes the series violence to a new level, containing some face ripping, eye gouging, and blood rage. I read and partake of the horror genre like I drink water and even I found myself praising the author's skill at portraying gore in these…

Elie Wiesel's book night tell us the story of the Holocaust that killed so many Jews and scarred the one that did survive for life. Elie Wiesel just so happens to be one of the luckier ones who actually survived being beat, seeing others being beat and killed, seeing babies being thrown in the air and used as a target practice. Children as well as women and feeble men were thrown in pits of fire, most of them alive, although some of them were dead. He even saw is own father being tortured, struggling until his death. Jews didn't have any rights, privileges or control over their own lives. Adolf Hitler and the Red Army (the Germans) took over with violence, weapons, and cold hearts. It is relevant to today because something very important was going on during this time in the United States—segregation. It was almost like the Holocaust but one important factor is what makes the Holocaust very different. During this time the Jewish people did not realize that the conditions were getting worse and worse as the days went on. Their government, the Jewish Council, told their people that there was nothing to worry about and things would soon get better, but they were very wrong. Things only got tougher but the Jews did not want to believe it. What makes this different from segregation in the United States is the minorities, Blacks in particular, knew that things were only going to get worse if they didn't do something about it. This is why political figures such as Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Malcolm X and even President John F. Kennedy were some of the people who stood up for injustice, and segregation, a time when no one other than whites were accepted in the southern parts of the country. MLK and JFK and Malcolm X were assassinated for standing up for what was right.…

One of the most common repairs that people do around their houses is on their windows. The most obvious reasons for home window repair are also broken glass and deteriorating putty, which is not only unattractive to the eyes but also produces openings that let the air escape. Although anyone can always approach a professional to do repairs around the house, there are also certain repairs that can be done by house members and a broken window is one of these. If a family needs to replace the broken glass of a window, then they would just need some things to be able to do this.…

That being said, I was engulfed in the world of the Los Angeles Institute and the residents there. The Blackthorn family and Emma attempting to stay above water after the events at the end of City of Heavenly Fire, while a new threat has entered the LA area mirroring the deaths of Emma’s parents five years earlier. While I adored the Blackthorn family and company, the cast of characters in this book were far too large. I was about two thirds done with the book before I remembered the order of all the siblings and many didn’t serve a purpose other than to be there. I’m sure that they will become more important in other novels, but it just seemed as if siblings were popping out of the wood work. Ironically, I would have also liked to see the family have at least one conversation with Helen, the banished sibling, instead of having her be a name dropped without any…

Symbolism plays a major role in the portrayal of some of the basic concepts in Joseph Conrad’s novel Heart of Darkness. In the beginning of the book, the symbols of darkness and light appear with their universal meaning, which, with the progress of the novel, is broadened so that it completely changes in the end. In the beginning, darkness seems to show the backwardness of the African continent and its people, whereas light stands for the enlightened, civilized world of Europeans. Later, the author takes a slightly different course with his work, which can be seen in the interrelatedness between the two opposing forces of the dark and the light. The black, savage natives that are often…

Joseph Conrad’s work might be looked at in different perspectives, such as a critical work of imperialism, or might even be considered an ironic novel with racism portrayed in it, due to the way Charles Marlow perceives and describes all there is around him. I personally believe that a racist is that one who firmly believes in the inferiority of people because of different factors such as skin color, culture, language, etc; or mainly those who participate in acts that strengthen this belief, in order to discriminate others. Then, it would not be totally correct to call him a racist for the fact that he is not ignoring the ‘reality’ of things, but rather describing and interpreting them in his particular way. It…

In all honesty, I didn't think I'd enjoy the book as much as I did. I'd heard of it a lot, mainly from female readers around my age. Being a huge fan of fantasy or sci-fi filled swashbuckling action, I didn't think a romantic story set in to a semi-gothic vampire setting would appeal to me, especially since the author took the liberty of practically re-defining the vampire race. So I was a bit surprised by how I quite literally couldn't put the book down. The plot, if a bit slow at first, was incredibly captivating, and I found myself yearning to know what was going to happen next.…

He came to save her and those people could have done something to Jean Valjean.…
