One way the constitution prevented tyranny was by using federalism. Federalism creates a double security to make sure the people of our country are safe. The government takes care of everything that happens on a national or international scale, and the state takes care of everything that happens within the state. Federalism created double security because the government does national and international deals or trades, and the states do local deals and trades.

Since there are three branches in the government, to make sure each branch is doing what they are supposed to and remaining constitutional they use checks and balances. Basically each branch has a particular thing they can do check each other branch. For example the The president can nominate judges for the judicial branch but the judicial branch can declare the presidential acts unconstitutional. The judicial branch can also declare laws unconstitutional but the legislative branch can impeach judges and remove them from the office. The legislative branch can also impeach the president or remove him from office, but the President can veto congressional legislation. The branches use checks to balance eachother out.
