Very little is known of Columbus’ childhood and early life ,but many scholars believe that he was born in a Christian household in Genoa by citing Columbus’ testament of 1498 and archival documents. It is said that Columbus was the eldest son of Domenico Colombo, a wool worker and merchant, and Susanna Fontanarossa.

Columbus also reached the peak of his popularity during the first and second journey because by the second trip 17 ships departed with him. He established several different colonies and fortified places for the people brave enough to live on uncharted territory.
Many people returned home to Spain with some gold, spices, and complaints about Columbus’ harsh methods of governing. By the third voyage, Spain was at war with France ,so the King and Queen made a cautious investment to support yet another voyage.
By Columbus’ fourth and final voyage on May 9, 1502 Columbus began to call himself christbearer because he genuinely thought his life was divinely guided. This showed how highly Columbus thought about himself by his many accomplishments for Spain.
