The first pull factor for the settlement in North America is the freedom of religion. “Catholic leaders in Spain often burned heretics—nonbelievers—in public during the Inquisition of the 1400s and 1500s.” “Heretics” or "nonbelievers" were burnt because of the lack of a religion they followed. Going to a new land, North America would allow them to practice whatever religion they want.
Another pull factor would be the discovery of new land and new resources. “Columbus obtained
three Spanish ships and set sail in the summer of 1492. He reached the Bahamas and believed they were the islands of Japan. But Columbus had actually landed in the region that came to be called the New World.” Discovering new land helped Europeans colonize elsewhere and create a new world. The last pull factor is to get more resources that can be traded to other countries. “Pitch, Tar, Rosin, and Turpentine, Cedar, Wine, Oil, Furs, Deerskins, Iron, Copper, Pearls, Dyes of diverse kinds.” New types of materials or resources that cannot be found in Europe are useful and valuable in many ways.
In conclusion, Europeans settled in North America due to three pull factors. The first pull factor being freedom of religion because certain religions in Europe were being persecuted. The next pull factor is the discovery of new land and resources because America was only populated by "Indians." The last pull factor is to find new rare resources tha can be traded.
