People in the games thought the gods were the people who decided the winner of the games. Nike, who was a winged female character, that flew down to the winner and gives them their reward that usually was a wreath or ribbon.
Another thing that influenced today’s society is architecture. The Romans created the arch, in which we changed to our own version of it. “Most arches consist of wedge-shaped blocks. The top center stone, called the keystone, is the last block to be inserted.” The Romans used a mixture of lime and volcanic sand to create cement like substance.
