Moslems won, they opened the gates of their cities, went out with the singers and music players who began to play, and paid the land tax.” People noticed that Muslims won most of their battles so people started to believe that Allah was real and was helping the Muslims in their battles. This shows how conquering lands would bring more and more people to Islamic religion. In Islam: A Short Story, by Karen Armstrong, it says,”...but Islam had put a stop to this because the ummah was not permitted to attack one another. People probably liked the idea that you wouldn’t kill just for fun because it was a sign of respect. Second of all, Islam spread so quickly because of the rights the people had.
According to “Verses from the Qur’an” it shows many verses/rules that people had to follow. One main rule was,” Do not devour one another’s property by unjust means, nor bribe the judges with it in order that you may wrongfully and knowingly usurp other people’s possessions…(2:188)”. This shows to not want what other people have and not to bribe about the things you have. This a really important rule that people wanted to follow so they liked that Muslims respected these things so they got influenced and joined. People also had good protection because of the Government and how Muslims were so important to the society in Arabia. According to The Ordinances of The Government, it says, “ To defend the land of Islam and to protect them from intrusion so that people may earn their livelihood and travel at will without danger to life or property.” This shows that the government really cared about Muslims because they were really important to the social hierarchy. This might have influenced people to turn into Muslims because they could feel with good protection and could perform their religion without stress or concern. Islam spread because of the rights that people had and the laws that were performed which were
fair.
The final but most important reason for why Islam spread was trade routes. According to Document C, in the map, it shows that the trade routes were really long and they headed into the Atlantic Ocean, Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Arabian Sea, Caspian Sea, and even the Indus River. The trade routes were used by merchants, travelers, and even preachers. The people could have preached throughout the world, like Muhammad, and influence other people. Also, in Document A, it shows all the different trade routes they had and these trade routes not only leaded into the seas but they also leaded into Spain, China, India, and Africa. When they would go to many different countries, they could have influenced many people from different countries to change them from their home religion to Muslim. Islam was spread mostly through trade routes because of the things they would sell and preach.
Although Christianity is the first biggest religion in the world, Muslims have also made a big difference in the world in many ways, especially through conquered lands, rights of people, and trade routes.
