the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators”, lasting from the years 1939-1941 (United States Holocaust Museum). After becoming the chancellor of Germany in 1933, Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime strived to bring Germany out of the depression and debt zone that they were currently in. Since the Nazis believed strongly that the Jewish people were harmful to the Germans and were “inferior”, Hitler’s idea of helping Germany out of this mess was by getting rid of the Jews in his ”Final Solution”. As a part of his Final Solution, Hitler exterminated the Jewish population through the implementation of concentration camps. Located in these camps were: gas chambers, crematories, and labor camps, which were used to execute the Jews. At these camps, the Jews were forced to work and if not, “[they would] go straight to the furnace [Or] to the crematory” (Wiesel 47). Although the Jews were the main targets, many other groups were subjected to cruelty under the Nazis as well. Some of these groups included: gypsies, homosexuals, the physically/mentally challenged, communists, anyone who opposed the Nazis, and the elderly (Wahutu,…

This slaughtering and murdering of millions of Jews and others, this genocide, was called the Holocaust. As a result of the Holocaust, approximately 11 million people died in total, which included 6 million Jews and 5 million non-Jews which contained the Gypsies, homosexuals, artists and dissidents. With the end of World War I, came the down fall of Germany. The signing of the Treaty of Versailles forced Germans to take blame for the war and pay large reparation to the victorious countries. Germany lost everything they owned and spiraled downhill. With the whole country down in the slums, any sight of hope sparked a wild fire; the emergence of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party did just that. Hitler, a German Nationalist, began rising to power due to his promises to fix the corruption and create the rebirth of Germany, which included his idea of a perfect Aryan race. Many groups of people, including the Jewish, Russians, and Slavics, contaminated Hitler’s pure race. With the rise of the “Jewish Question”, what to do with this hated group of people, the only answer was the extermination of the vermin like European Jews. “Getting rid of lice is not a question of ideology. It is a matter of cleanliness” (Nazi Conspiracy and Aggression, Himmler). The mass extermination of the Jews called for thousands of SS officers to run the concentration camps and gas chambers. The Holocaust happened due to the horrific orders that no one dared to break, in order to rebuild the strength of Germany.…

The police that were there to protect, didnt do anything to help or defend the Jewish people from the SS soldiers or Nazis. The Jews were terrorized on that night because of the anger of the Germans by the assassination of the German official in Paris at the hands of a Jewish teenager. The condition of the Jewish people had worsened from then on. More and more Jews had been shipped to the concentration camps or ghettos. Some Jews had stayed and hidden in their homes with their families and hoped for the…

When the Germans captured Jew’s they would either use them as slaves or put them in a gas room, where they would die. You could be a child, woman, or a man and they would still persecute or kill you. This lasted for many years, then Hitler said his last words which ended the Holocaust. This was found from the website www.history.com. “In his last will and political testament, dictated in a German bunker that April 29, Hitler blamed the war on ‘International Jewry and its helpers’ and urged the German leaders and people to follow ‘the strict observance of the racial laws and with merciless resistance against the universal poisoners of all peoples’–the Jews. The following day, he committed suicide. Germany’s formal surrender in World War II came barely a week later, on May 8, 1945.” There was one man who saved many Jewish lives. His name was Oskar Schindler. He would gives Jews jobs or have them work as slaves, but he would treat them with kindness and not be torturous.
