Everyone who lived in Mecca had one belief system that they followed, believing in a messenger from God. That messenger from God’s name was Muhammad.
Muhammad was born in 570 in Mecca. His parents both died when he was very young. He was raised by his grandfather then by an uncle. Sometime after he was married, he began receiving messages from God. After he started telling people about them, they were put together verse by verse to become Islam’s bible. Muhammad began to build the first Muslim community with him as the first leader. The Meccans fought against his people until January, 630, when they marched through Mecca and took over. Even though he was raised by his grandfather and uncle, married a young woman, who later died, then faced challenges with Jewish tribes, and decisions on Mecca, Muhammad was still able to spread the word of God to others.
