Starting with the Boston Tea Party, and the Boston Massacre, all the way to independence, Paul Revere was in the midst of everything during the conflicts between the American Colonists and the British. As a courier for the Boston Committee of Correspondence, Paul Revere was an unexpected leader and became one of the largest reasons the American colonies gained independence from Great Britain. Most famous for his Midnight Ride - his travels from Boston to Lexington, Massachusetts, warning John Adams and John Hancock that the British were coming - Paul Revere did considerably more than he received credit for. Revere hopped on his horse and rode into Lexington, continuously letting people know that the British were on the way and even the Red Coats that were already there by telling them they weren't gonna win. “He was a courier, he was a messenger - part of his ride was to warn the British that we're already there, that hey, you're not going to succeed. You're not going to take American arms (Block).” Revere was very confident in the colonists and their chances to defend their land and escape Great Britain. Not only a spy, Paul Revere was also a great war mind. The aforementioned Midnight Ride happened and he was two steps ahead of the British, he knew where they were going and knew where the patriots should set up to catch them off guard and with the battle. “Let the troops pass by, and don't molest them, without they begin first (Revere 1775).” Revere wanted the patriots to not just start firing at the Red Coats so that all patriots could surprise attack the British at once. As a result, the colonists all got their weapons from the shed that the British were coming to raid and set up to win the battle of Lexington and Concord. Paul Revere was an American Patriot who
