How Did Roosevelt's Recovery Policy Change

To start off his presidency the United States was in the Great Depression. As president he did accomplish a lot. During the first “100 days” he started the recovery process. During this time he temporarily closed the banks. And worked with Congress to work on the recovery programs. During this time also when he was working with Congress he set up alphabet agencies. He set up AAA(Agricultural Adjustment Administration) and the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps). He also established other agencies to assist in the recovery process. Such as business and labor, insured bank deposits, and regulated the stock market. In 1936 Roosevelt took a lot of criticism from the Supreme Court because of the New Deal. They ruled that it was unconstitutional.
At this time Congress enacted the draft for the military. And Roosevelt signed the “Lend-Lease” Act in March of 1941.This allowed America to furnish aid to countries at war with Germany and Italy. On December 7th, 1941 Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japan the days later Germany and Italy declared war. Roosevelt exercised his powers as Commander-in-Chief of the military. Roosevelt created an alliance to fight against the Axis powers. They fought threw the “The Declaration of the United Nations” in January 1943. All the nations fighting the Axis powers pledged to the organization. This organization was a peace organization. Later the organization was made into the United Nations. Roosevelt gave his priority more on the western European front. He gave his chief of staff General George Marshall to plan a holding operation in the Pacific and organize force and for an invasion in Europe. At this time the United States allied with North Africa in November 1942 and Sicily and Italy in 1943. On June 6th, 1944 the D-Day landings on the beaches of Normandy in France occurred. After the invasion of France the Allies invaded Germany. And within six months later the war in Europe was over in April
